People We Support

People We Support and How

At Viichii Homes, we adopt a person-centred approach; involving the individual, their family members, professionals and staff to provide support to the person to help them develop and enhance functional abilities and skills to improve their quality of life.

Through this approach, each person we support has a bespoke Care Plan and a Positive Behaviour Support Plan that is reviewed regularly to reflect their development person, including how they should be and progress.

These plans detail every aspect of that supported requirement i.e what their likes and dislikes are, how their environment should be adapted for them, how to ensure all their needs (physiological, emotional and physical well-being) are met.

Mental Health Diagnosis:

Our team support people living with a wide range of mental health needs. Individuals may have a primary mental health diagnosis e.g. schizophrenia, psychosis, personality disorders, schizo affective disorder or bipolar, they may also have dual mental health needs. We Will also consider those mental health diagnosis with a mild Learning disability or autism.

Each day and each step our residents show strength of character. As well as their diagnosis, some of the people we support may have a previous history of substance abuse and they have often experienced traumatic events in their past. Our team work with our residents to take small steps to overcome these hurdles each day. Our care support plans are built with the resident to risk assess and prevent relapses and readmissions to hospital.

viichii homes methodology of working under PROACT-SCIPr-UK®

PROACT-SCIPr-UK® is a method of working which encourages staff to look at the strengths and needs of the individual. Underpinned by the principles of Positive Behaviour Support, it’s a consistent, supportive team-based approach to working with people who may display behaviours of concern. The approach is holistic and designed to reduce the need for individuals to use aggression or violence to achieve a desired outcome.

PROACT-SCIPr-UK® focuses on the three necessary forms of Positive Behaviour Support:

  • Proactive interventions before problems arise – understanding an individual’s triggers and preventing them where possible.
  • Active interventions designed to meet problems as they occur and de-escalate them before crisis.
  • Reactive interventions as behaviour is displayed, then waiting for individuals to return to Active and Proactive stages so we can fully address their needs.
Positive behaviour support is fully integrated into the homes approach. Our in-house PBS team is made of accredited PROACT-SCIPr-UK® instructors who works closely with staff to monitor the behavioural, emotional and psychological needs of those we care for. This allows them to assess and intervene rapidly with individual guidance designed to help staff respond in the most appropriate way to improve quality of life, reduce distress and ensure each individual has the support that best meets their needs.
